DT626 – Victor Ruiz

Share

From the depths of the Brazilian electronic music scene – specifically São Paulo – emerges a frank and authentic artist in Victor Ruiz.

They say that his techno sound has finally found it’s more seductive side. “From Brazil with love” read the title of that interview where he caught the attention with his qualities always supporting super fresh sounds, with fewer grooves. From then on he has been compared to artists like Maceo Plex. Over time Victor Ruiz has grown, not only his production skills but also in his sets, a breath of fresh air to the listener.

When he first stepped into a recording studio his first steps were to reinterpret his roots in a more contemporary way. A futuristic tone but at the same time racial, exciting and danceable. In other words, his sound goes straight to your heart, your head and your feet (We need all of them to dance, right?). Thanks to these components over the years he’s been winning over huge swarms of followers.

Today, Victor joins our Podcast series – Listen to it below, on Spotify or iTunes here

Sum up this podcast in 10 words…
It defines the feeling of homesickness for me.

What’s your personal favourite track on it?
I have two. The track “Nimbus” which is the closing track and one of my latest productions and the edit I did of a track from a Brazilian producer – Stanccione. It has vocal citing a poem from a very famous Brazilian writer. It’s about how time goes so fast and how we have to enjoy life before it’s too late.

What’s the special ingredient in this mix?
The many melodies and harmonies of the tracks and their depth.

What’s the best gig you’ve played recently?
LUFT in Melbourne. It was such a mindblowing experience to play in a huge warehouse for five thousand people.

What have you got coming up?
My next EP will be released on NOIR MUSIC this January 25th. It has three tracks and I can’t wait to put them out for you all.

And finally, do you have a special message for our readers?
I wish you all an amazing 2019, with more consciousness about our planet. Let’s not take for granted all the blessings we have that is to be able to live in such a perfect environment.

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
