DT524 – Acumen

Antoine aka Acumen, a man in the beginning of his thirty’s, a proud father and a pharmacist can’t spend that much time in the clubs anymore but stays well connected to the club scene with his labels Time has changed

His love for music began early and he was always open for all genres. Discovering the After hour club “Barlive” fascinated him in a completely new way.  He has been producing his own music under the name Acumen for about two years and has managed to make a name for himself in the deeper Tech House scene; even Richie Hawtin describes him as the best breakthrough producer of the year in 2009. Legends like Laurent Garnier, Loco Dice, Joris Voorn and Peter Kruder play Acumen’s tracks in their sets.

His sets are dance floor orientated whilst not ignoring his Deep House roots, the warm sound that he came to love and cherish in the clubs and we are excited to have him on the podcast series today!

Sum up this podcast in 10 words…
These are some tracks that I like most play at this time. It’s pretty varied I think. But it does represent my tastes which are rather eclectic.

What’s your personal favourite track on it?
i think it is the track from Leif – Fantastique on Mule

What’s the special ingredient in this mix?
I think the special ingredient is the groove. I am always trying in my production to add this element and in my mixes also.

What’s the best gig you’ve played recently?

A lot of new ex’s and music. so stay tuned !

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
