446 – Sidney Charles

Share

Sidney Charles Hurricane Vieljans (yes, really) is what his mum and the inland revenue call him. One of our favourite tech-house beatsmiths is how we would describe him. Who lives in a house like this… [Ed. Stop making Through the Keyhole references] We mean who else would we be talking about other than Sidney Charles?

Hailing from Hamburg, Sidney’s journey towards the world of house and techno began when he first started DJing hip-hop, soul and funk at the age of 15 but really came to life when he arrived in Ibiza as a certified house head, quickly forging a reputation as one of the islands most credible performers and the launch of his own night at Vista Club called Do Not Sleep. One of Ibiza’s most talked-about newcomers, Do Not Sleep is nestled in the hills of the middle of Ibiza, providing an amazing backdrop from which Sidney – alongside the irrepressible talents of fellow residents Darius Syrossian and Sante – deliver his distinct brand of house music to a loyal crowd each and every Sunday.

Not jetting out to the White Isle this year? Fear not, you can catch also him in the UK as he drops in for a hotly anticipated performance at this year’s edition of Eastern Electrics at Hatfield House on Saturday 1st AugustGrab your tickets here.

Warning: Listening to this edition of the Data Transmission Podcast may cause irresistible urges to book flights to Ibiza.

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
