445 - Sacha Robotti - Data Transmission

Although most came to know him as one half of Berlin duo Robosonic, Sacha Robotti (yes that is his real name) has been a well respected solo artist for half a decade now. First finding his feet on Luca Lozano‘s Klasse Recordings, the Belgium-raised Italian-German has only gone from strength to strength since.

Now a Dirtybird regular, Robotti has collaborated with the likes of Claude VonStroke, Look Like and Kevin Knapp, and toured the world over. Sacha has made sure to spread his work far and wide over the past few years; 2012 saw his foundation-shaking ‘Go To The Mo’ team up with fellow Belgian, Kill Frenzy; he popped up on Jesse Perez‘s Mr. Nice Guy in 2014; and back in May this year, Sacha’s collaboration with ZDS – the Shaky EP – hit the shelves via Toy Tonics (stream it here.)

Having kicked off 2015 in style, Robotti shows no signs of slowing down either. He has a remix for Riva Starr due out through Snatch in August, then a summer/autumn release with old pal Kill Frenzy on Ultramajic, and remixes for Fidelity Kastrow on Sisyphon and Thabo Getsome on Clap Your Hands.

A busy man indeed then, which is why we’re feeling rather chuffed that Sacha has taken some time out to deliver us podcast overflowing with energetic beats – the perfect way to start the week! Download the podcast, and check out our short interview with Sacha and the full mix tracklist below.

Sum up this podcast in 10 words…

Some of my fave trax right now for you!

What’s your personal favourite track on it?

Robert Hood “Museum” on M-Plant. It’s so good…

What’s the special ingredient in this mix?

Whisky, weed and Weetabix?

What’s the best gig you’ve played recently?

That must’ve been at Teatro Amador in Panama for “Rescue Beats”, it was amazing! Latin America is always an adventure.

What have you got coming up?

A bunch of remixes I’m really excited about: for Riva Starr “In My Soul” on his label Snatch, for Fidelity Kastrow “Full Moon Falcon” on Sisyphon (the label of the Berliner club Sisyphos), for my friend Thabo Getsome “The Sound” on Clap Your Hands; and a remix of the ‘classic’ “Bamboo” by Rainer Weichhold on Gold Records. I’ve also got some original pirate material in the works… collabs with Kill Frenzy and Kevin Knapp, and some solo cuts as well!

And finally, do you have a special message for our readers?

The message is love.
