NUDE217: Boom Merchant

Boom Merchant lands on the NUDE Techno podcast with a mix that does exactly what it should, straight to the floor, no filler. The Irish artist, now based in Mexico, has been quietly stacking credibility for years, from Glasgow’s underground parties to sets across Japan and Germany. You can hear that graft in this selection.

His sound pulls classic techno grooves into deeper territory, thick atmospheres, swirling percussion and basslines that sit heavy without shouting. It is hard, hypnotic and flexible enough to move between rooms and moods.

2025 was busy, with releases across Autektone Dark and his own Tribal Pulse imprint, and he starts 2026 strong with the Operativo EP on Moog Conspiracy’s Elektrotribe Records. This mix leans into that world, featuring cuts from Operativo alongside tracks from Hertz, Pig&Dan, Joel Mull and Deetron. It flows, it rolls, and it keeps its tension right where you want it.

Today, he joins the NUDE Techno podcast, with an hour of Techno. Listen to it below on SoundCloud & Mixcloud. If you are feeling this series, then please consider supporting it on Mixcloud Select.

Sum up this podcast in 10 words…

Heavy-hitting, colourful, dynamic, futurist rhythms, with Detroit techno soul.

What’s your personal favourite track on it?

That’s a tough one, because I love them all. “Permean” by Regent was a personal favourite track of last year, so it’s hard to look past that one with its irresistible bleeps and driving bassline.

What’s the special ingredient in this mix?

I love contrasting grooves where each track adds momentum while also changing direction.

Tell us about your next EP?

Operativo is a 3-track EP on Moog Conspiracy’s Berlin-based imprint Elektrotribe. The tracks were written around the middle of 2025, when I was feeling especially creative, just after setting up my new studio here in Mexico City. I was DJing around Mexico at the weekends, and I think the release represents the hustle and the optimism of that time. I’m very satisfied with how the release has turned out, and the DJ reaction to the tracks has been massive.

What have you got coming up?

Next month I’ll be releasing “Throw Up,” which is a tough groover that I’ve included in the podcast. It’ll come out on my record label Tribal Pulse, accompanied by Fractious and Obsidian Wave remixes. After that, I’ve got a couple of releases on top labels that I can’t reveal too much more about just now, but there will be a vinyl release in there. Alongside these, I’ve got plenty of dates coming up in North America, followed by a tour of Europe in June. Lastly, Sandia Club is a concept we’ve been working on here in Mexico City, and that will be launching in 2026. I’m over the moon with how all my recent projects have been turning out, and at times the support from my fanbase has been overwhelming. Keep track of my socials, as I’ll be announcing more info soon.

And finally, do you have a special message for our readers?

I think January of 2026 has been my most productive month in the studio to date, and I’m super excited to share the outcome of those sessions with the world. Hopefully that has set the tone for the rest of the year, as I plan to maintain this productive wave of creativity for the next 12 months.
