NUDE201: Hybrasil

Share

Plug in. Lock on. We’re going full-throttle into the smoke with episode 201 of our Techno series, and it’s Hybrasil at the controls. If you like your grooves hypnotic, your kicks heavy, and your rhythms engineered with surgical precision, then buddy, you’re in the right basement.

Hybrasil isn’t here to mess about. This is the sound of a mind honed in high-end studios, now fully weaponised for warehouse warfare. A live artist through and through, his sets aren’t just played, they’re built in real time. No two are ever the same. That’s the juice.

From early sessions at Temple Lane to dropping full-blown modular sermons in Panorama Bar and DC10, the man’s journey has been a slow-burn masterclass in staying real, staying raw, and staying functional. Releases on CLR, Rekids, Uncage, it’s a proper underground discography. Built tough. Built smart.

There’s a grit to this one. Acid flecks. Pulsing low-end. Percussion that scrapes and slams. But it’s not just peak-time pound and it thinks. It moves like architecture. This is techno for heads who care how a track moves the air.

And if you’ve caught whispers about ‘Drones from the Island’ or been rinsing his output on Awesome Soundwave, you already know: this is an artist operating deep in the circuitry and a true machine whisperer. Episode 201 is a pulsing, late-night missive from the frontline of live techno.

Big system business. Don’t sleep.

Crack a window, crank the system, and lose yourself in this one.

Today, he joins the NUDE Techno podcast, with an hour of Techno. Listen to it below on SoundCloud & Mixcloud. If you are feeling this series, then please consider supporting it on Mixcloud Select.

Sum up this podcast in 10 words…
60 minutes of original material recorded off two Octatrack Samplers

What’s your personal favourite track on it?
I like the opening track ‘The Rush’, from my latest EP for Mind Medizin, and ‘Release’ from my recent CLR debut.

What’s the special ingredient in this mix?
I think recording an all-originals podcast is always a nice challenge. I feel that working with the Octatrack Samplers brings me back to the three-turntable mixing style, which I really enjoy.

Tell us about your next EP?
My latest release, ‘Madman EP’, is out now with Mind Medizin. That features four tracks recorded in my Berlin studio (HBL Studios). One of the tracks, More Wax, was recorded in one take off an Erica Synths drum machine.

What have you got coming up?
I recently debuted on Chris Liebing’s CLR label with Kontrol EP. Coming up, I have a release coming out with Alan Fitzpatrick’s new label HYBRD, which is scheduled for July.

And finally, do you have a special message for our readers?
I hope you enjoy the podcast. If you’d like to learn more about making music with Ableton, Bitwig or Maschine, check out the Elevator Program: https://elevatorprogram.com/
