NUDE116: SAS

Share

Sarah Assi, nicknamed SAS, is an 18-year-old Lebanese/Italian DJ/Producer. Rich In Harmonics, RooneyNasr, ACOR, Marco Kallas, and Sopik are among her favourite producers, and she is inspired by dark, acidic, and industrial sounds… She became interested in techno at the age of 13, began DJing at 15, and had her production/career debut at the age of 17, playing with Nico Moreno as her first gig.

Since then, she has hosted countless events with worldwide musicians such as Nico Moreno, Parfait, Jacidorex, and others under her management “EKSTASIS LEB.” Her ambition is to grow the hard techno scene in Lebanon, despite the country’s corruption and bad governance.

“Regardless of genre, subgenre, or BPM, I enjoy hard and dark techno; as long as the kicks are hard and the atmosphere is dark and nasty, I’ll play it and enjoy my set! Depending on what I’m in the mood to play, each set is unique. I alternate between 138-145 and 150-160 BPM, with 155 BPM being my favorite.”

Today, she joins the NUDE Techno podcast, with an hour of Techno. Listen to it below on SoundCloud & Mixcloud. If you are feeling this series, then please consider supporting it on Mixcloud Select.

Sum up this podcast in 10 words...
This is a groovy, acidic, nasty, harsh, and even captivating podcast, with some dark and kind of hypnotic drops and sounds. I find the track selection to be in a good flow where it becomes harder by the track.

What’s your personal favourite track on it?
My favourite track on the podcast would be “Trebuchet (Original Mix) , by Dandi & Ugo, Marco Kallas” because I really like the dark sounds and touches of Marco Kallas, and the acid fits in perfectly.

What’s the special ingredient in this mix?
The secret ingredient in this mix is simply a dash of love, rage, and groove mixed together. When I perform music, create music, or even host raves, it helps me forget about many of the problems that are currently affecting Lebanon’s corruption and crisis. Techno, in my opinion, is revolutionary and it makes you forget, especially in these difficult economic times.

Tell us about your next EP?

My next EP will be a remix for RooneyNasr, a Lebanese artist, and it will be my first release as a producer on Finder Records. This summer, I’m also working on self-released and signed Industrial/Acid techno music.

What have you got coming up?
This summer, I plan to release several tracks on SoundCloud and hopefully on new labels, as well as travel with my team and develop my management in Europe, in order to show the techno scene how amazing Lebanese artists are.  Over the summer and as part of the celebration of Ekstasis’s anniversary this year, I’m organising events to help other small artists like myself gain visibility in Lebanon and in Europe’s peaktime/hard techno scene, whether they are Lebanese or Internationals.

And finally, do you have a special message for our readers?
My special message to readers is to keep an eye on the underground movement and to never be scared to go hard. Support independent, small and international artists; every listen and repost helps us a lot. I hope you enjoyed my set and the selection as much as i did, I had so much fun recording it and dancing to it 🙂

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
