Talk about establishing a brand identity outside of the ‘status quo’, or redefining what it means to be a true artist, which is exactly what we can expect from DESNA as she carves out her place in the music industry, making sure to avoid definitive classification by charting a new course that’s sure to shake things up.

Having spent years honing her talents and nurturing her craft, it was only in 2017 that the alias ‘DESNA’ was born. Making a name for herself playing a number of shows on the underground circuit, she eventually caught the attention of the owners of Output club in New York. From that encounter she managed to bag herself a residency where she continued to top the bill between 2017, until the end of 2019, rising in notoriety on the New York scene. She later went on to bolster her profile and kick things up a notch in 2019 by moving to Avant Gardner and Brooklyn Mirage, sharing the bill with some of the biggest names out there.

Today, she joins the NUDE Techno podcast, with an hour of Techno. Listen to it below on SoundCloud & Mixcloud. If you are feeling this series, then please consider supporting it on Mixcloud Select.

Sum up this podcast in 10 words
A spontaneous eclectic journey filled with hypnotic bass, breaks, and melodies.

What’s your personal favourite track on it?
Currently, my favourite track is Passing Ceres by Regent

What’s the special ingredient in this mix?

I freestyled this mix and really liked the outcome. I have recorded a podcast this way a few times and there is some sort of magic that comes with not overplanning/using my intuition instead of my calculated mind.

Tell us about your next EP?

I spent this year formulating a slightly new direction, adding solfeggio healing frequencies in my music. I can’t wait to release this because most people think of healing only associated with meditation or ambient music. No one is putting it in hard techno. The project felt very divinely guided and is now my signature in all of my tracks moving forward. I’ve always wanted to find a way to add value in the music I created. That has always been important to me.

What have you got coming up?

My next biggest shows are Time Warp USA and another huge one for New Year’s Eve that I can’t announce yet.

And finally, do you have a special message for our readers?

Take the time to sync up with your purpose. That feeling in your gut. It happens when it happens and can’t be forced so don’t stress out over finding it. I have been DESNA since the end of 2017 and I just found my purpose this year.

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
