NUDE080: Lady Tazz

Lady Tazz is a Canadian/Bangladeshi DJ, Producer and Vocalist.

Born and raised in Montreal, Lady Tazz followed her roots back to Bangladesh in her early 20s and has spent most of her life travelling and exploring different parts of the world which has reflected heavily in her music.

While living in Bangladesh, possibly as far as can be from the electronic music world’s traditional epicentres, Lady Tazz has always latched onto the Techno scene. However, despite her talent, honing her skills as a DJ and producer was a challenge in her home country, where her attempts to forge a career in the world of electronic music was sometimes met with outright hostility.

However, she persevered and broke all stereotypes. She is a constant source of new ideas and which has led her to be an inspiration for a lot of young girls in Bangladesh. In a studio near the sea, high atop a mountain in Greece, surrounded by fig groves, the inimitable sound of Lady Tazz was born. Her music features dark hypnotic synths, ethereal vocals, and pristine beats, cut through with spikes of acid. She is inspired by the beauty of chance that occurs in the studio – she grabs hold of the unexpected and surprising, and builds her musical world around it.

She has always left a special place in the hearts of her audiences with her hypnotic live performances and has built a deeply loyal fanbase through her regular live-stream DJ sets including two incredible streams on Radio Intense and also as a resident for Solaris Radio.

Following on from her stunning debut release on CODEX last month she follows up with a huge two-track EP on IAMT called ‘Beautiful But Evil’, which you can listen to here on Beatport.

Today, he joins the NUDE Techno podcast, with an hour of Techno. Listen to it below on SoundCloud & Mixcloud. If you are feeling this series, then please consider supporting it on Mixcloud Select.

Sum up this podcast in 10 words…
Dark and Hypnotic with pressure-driven synthy techno sounds.

What’s your personal favourite track on it?
I really like the first track ‘Aguilas’ by Gotshell. It has soo many elements. I am really digging the crispy modular sounds.

What’s the special ingredient in this mix?
The special ingredient is versatility! This mix has a lot of underground artists from all over the world so you can really hear different kinds of sounds within the genre of techno.

Tell us about your next EP?
I just released an EP (Beautiful But Evil ) on IAMT. It’s very dark hypnotic and sultry, I love this combination, it’s sexy and evil. I really enjoyed creating this EP. It has 2 tracks. I used my vocals in both the tracks, it really brings out an ethereal feel something that is a guaranteed floor filler in the dark hours of the night

What have you got coming up?
I’m working on a very special project. It includes techno and Fashion, I want to keep it a secret for now. But you will find out very soon.

And finally, do you have a special message for our readers?
Yes I do, love yourself and believe in your worthy self. Try to make the most out of every single day. Be grateful and try to always find happiness from within yourself & you’re life will change I promise you.
