Woody Cook and UK garage pioneer Zed Bias have released their new collaborative single ‘Afters’ through Cook’s Truth Tribe label.
The track grew from Cook and Bias playing back to back at Glastonbury Festival and a Lab 54 afterparty inside a converted Brighton church.
‘Afters’ brings together skippy two step drums, deep subs and reggae warmth, leaving space for its vocal elements while maintaining the energy required to keep a late night dancefloor moving.
The collaboration follows a friendship spanning several years, with Cook describing Bias as “a wise karate master” and an important mentor. Under his Zed Bias alias, Dave Jones helped shape UK garage through records including his defining 2000 anthem ‘Neighbourhood’.
Cook has developed his own reputation through sets at Hï Ibiza, Snowbombing, Ministry of Sound and Glastonbury’s Arcadia. His growing studio output now brings the same crowd reading instinct into his productions.
Jonny Dutch adds further UK club pedigree as a founding member of The Manor. Aloka brings a vocal style informed by neo soul, dub and jazz after meeting Cook at Glastonbury.
Together, the four artists have created a record rooted in the point where the scheduled party ends and the night carries on. Stream or buy ‘Afters’ here.
