Having only just recovered from 2013’s Barcelona leg of the globe trotting festival Sonar we were already excited for next year before the organisers revealed even the tiniest details of their plans for 2014. After cancelling the Sau Paulo edition this year we can confirm that the international arts and music event doesn’t have plans to immeadiately return to Brazil but in an exciting development will be undertaking a first event in the buzzing Mexico city. Followers of electronic music will have noticed a new vibrancy that seems to have engulfed Mexico at the moment as their flair for classic house with a latin flair to it continues to gather momentum on the world stage.

Sonar have also revealed that revamped editions for Reykjavik which will open proceedings for 2014 on February 13th  and Tokyo are already on next years agenda before they return to their spiritual home of Barcelona and wrap the year up in Cape Town in December.

No names have yet been confirmed for the 2014 line-ups but with stunning rosters delivered across their events last year including a very special performance by seminal German electronica outfit Kraftwerk we can expect an equally strong showing this year.

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
