Simon Cowell Officially Announces ‘The Ultimate DJ’

Well it appears that we and a certain Norman Cook spoke too soon and electronic music may well soon find its way into soul destroying pop dictator Simon Cowell’s clutches with the X Factor creator announcing that his much maligned DJ ‘talent’ competition concept will definitely be going ahead.

Having set his sights on the world of electronic music back in 2013 Cowell has now teamed up with Yahoo and Ultra Records for the new show, hilariously titled ‘The Ultimate DJ.’

Having been roundly rejected by a large cross section of the dance music community Cowell took to Twitter to defend the project, saying: “The show is intended to showcase the incredible talent that electronic music has shown the world. It will be made with respect.”

One of the names approached to ‘judge’ the contest was veteran international DJ and producer Fatboy Slim but Fatboy, (real name Norman Cook) wasted no time in turning Cowell down and letting him know his feelings on the matter as he revealed “As dance music gets taken over by people like Cowell it becomes about being famous and money, the nasty side which I think for years it was relatively free of. Kids grow up thinking to be a DJ, you’ve got to be sexy and bling… It’s not about that.”

We couldn’t of said it better ourselves Norman.
