Satl lands on TNQ with his ‘Lucid Dreams’ EP
Polish producer Satl steps out of his comfort zone and explores his Dub Techno influences on his new ‘Lucid Dreams’ EP. This is his sophomore release on Amsterdam boutique label The North Quarter.
Consisting of six brooding, but elegant tracks, ‘Lucid Dreams’ is the work of an artist taking creative risks in order to grow and find his voice. Having made the move from Rotterdam to Gdańsk at the start of the year, Satl spent his lockdown delving into his love for Techno. He was looking to translate it into his Drum & Bass productions and has achieved this with exceptional results.
“This EP to me is an exploration of a sound that I’ve loved for some time, but never really felt confident enough to attempt. A more raw, techno-inspired, but still elegant and classy form of Drum and Bass. I always strive to push myself forward, and I feel really good about this project. It’s a step outside of my comfort zone. A project that I’m really proud of.” – Satl
Satl is one of the leading lights in a new generation of Drum & Bass producers. Still only in his early 20’s he first started producing over a decade ago, giving his music a refinement and depth beyond his years. He has already carved himself into the repertoire of Drum & Bass. This can be seen through a succession of releases which have helped push him as a part of its more soulful trenches.
Today we premiere ‘Portal’ from Satl’s ‘Lucid Dreams’ EP. Starting off soulful and very liquid it morphs into something grimier as it progresses. Filled with loads of bleeps and blips (as per techno) with growly sub-bass and synths it really grabs your attention!
Check out ‘Portal’ below. The EP drops on 13th November and will be available on vinyl and digital, make sure you grab it from here
