Another one taken too soon. Family, friends and fans are mourning the passing of Auckland dance music veteran DJ Soane after his death at the weekend of a heart attack.

Born Soane Filitonga in the Tongan village of Vava’u and raised in Auckland the onetime bouncer found fame as a house music producer and DJ, becoming a regular fixture on the antipodean club scene in the 90s and 00’s  releasing on the likes of Manchester label Paper Recordings before dropping his album TonganChic in 2004 which featured guest appearances from Boh Runga and rapper Tha Feelstyle among others. A gentle giant who’ll be firmly missed, our thoughts go out to his friends and family at this most difficult time.

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
