Premiere: Tobi Danton – Dope Place

Share

Late July will see Stuttgart’s Rough Limited imprint release the ‘Places’ EP, coming courtesy of label founder Tobi Danton.

Born and raised in Stuttgart, Tobi Danton is an up and coming German talent with a passion for the rawer, more musical end of the house music spectrum, taking influence from Chicago and the origins of house. Here we see Tobi back on his own vinyl only Rough Limited imprint which he launched in 2013 alongside Daniel Napolitano and has since released material from Diego Krause, Soul Of Hex, Nick Beringer and Kindimmer.

Opening the EP is our debut transmission ‘Dope Place’, laid out over seven and a half minutes with robust rhythms, choppy pad samples and spoken word vocal samples. ‘NYC Days’ follows and delves a little deeper via ethereal swelling pads, wandering electric piano licks and smooth dubby chords running alongside pacey drums and sporadic vocal lines.

Tobi Danton’s ‘Places’ EP is out on Rough Limited 25th July.
