Premiere: Prospa – Machines

Share

After a brief hiatus we’re back with another weapon on Suah. Prospa recently moved their sound into darker territory and we couldn’t be happier to be the first label to showcase their new style. The production quality of the duo is on a completely new level – both tracks on this EP are meticulously crafted and the attention to detail is unparalleled.

The title track ‘Machines’ deploys a heavy undulating bassline beneath robotic vocals and effects. Prospa’s percussion sends the track into groove overdrive and extra synth-work on the second drop kicks everything up a few notches.
‘Codex’ is on slightly more progressive tip – icy synths and moaning vocals give the breakdowns a euphoric atmosphere before the whole thing drops into resonant bass, rising stabs and beautifully curated drums.

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
