Porter Robinson Unveils ‘Sea Of Voices’

You know you’re getting older when the artists you’re watching emerge start to be younger than you are.  Some people might find that a bit startling but as long as the talent coming through the ranks is producing music at the quality that Porter Robinson is we couldn’t care less how old he is.

A prodigious talent, the 21 year old American has enjoyed an outstanding last 12 months culminating in the announcement of his hotly anticipated debut album courtesy of a marathon 10 hour video complete with interrupted transmissions mysterious proclamations and subliminal messages. All that just to inform us that the album was to be entitled ‘Worlds’.

Now to further ratchet up excitement for his first extended studio effort has unveiled the first single to be taken from the inbound LP and we have to say we’re impressed. A hazy, dream-like number, new single ‘Sea Of Voices’ is an impressive opening gambit and sounds very much to us like the soundtrack to a particularly climactic scene that wouldn’t have been too far out of place in a 90s blockbuster.

Out now on Astralwerks, you can check out ‘Sea Of Voices’ below:

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
