From our favourite genre hopping ninja turntablist to an announcement of a new album on Ninja Tune from a fellow DT favourite and similarly musically eccentric DJ and producer who plays across the board from Soul, Funk, Hip Hop, Jazz, Reggae, Dubstep, Latin, African, Ska, Disco, House, Funk, Breaks, Soundtracks amongst countless others I think it’s safe to say we have both shinobi and defying genre boundaries on the brain today.

We are of course talking about the inimitable Mr. Scruff announcing that he will be releasing a new album this May via esteemed London based imprint Ninja Tune. Entitled ‘Friendly Bacteria’ the release is the latest chapter in Mr. Scruff’s close relationship with the label with three of four albums from the famous tea lover previously landing on the long running UK label including the comically named 2008 effort Ninja Tuna.

Further details are currently scarce but what we can confirm is that the LP will be arriving in digital, CD and double vinyl formats upon its release and will be accompanied  by Mr. Scruff and friends taking control of London’s Roundhouse on May 31st for an all day, and late night, party to celebrate the launch of  ‘Friendly Bacteria’. Featuring a very special selection of bands and DJs with a headline set from Mr. Scruff it’s certainly one we’re looking forward to.

Tickets are available from the Roundhouse

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
