Dance music supergroup Moderat, which is the Berlin-based collaboration between Modselekor (Sebastian Szary and Gernot Bronsert) & Apparat (Sascha Ring) took over the Essential mix on Friday evening delivering their experimental diversions as a mix and Essential Mix host Pete Tong advises “a decent pair of headphones for this one.”  The mix features tracks from himself, Oneohtrix Point Never, Sculpture, Squarepusher, Pearson Sound and of course some Modselektor releases.

“We’ve done this mix on the road. It’s pretty much what we’re listening to on the tour bus between the shows. The special thing about it is that we’ve all contributed to it. Three pretty different angles on electronic music”. Moderat, May 2016.

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
