Mix Of The Day: Kask

Tallinn, Estonia’s capital on the Baltic Sea, is the country’s cultural hub. It retains its walled, cobblestoned Old Town, home to cafes and shops, as well as Kiek in de Kök, a 15th-century defensive tower and houses a stunningly vibrant techno scene. Now whilst that last fact may come as a surprise to some, its been well known within discerning circles for a while now with the city producing a number of underground artists who have probably been soundtracking parts of your nights out without you even realising it. One such artist, the fast rising Kask, steps up to deliver todays Mix of the Day following the release of his new EP for Legendary Sound Research.

Titled ‘Homegrown’, the three track EP arrives two years on from Kask’s debut on the label and shows that he’s lost none of the ability that first brought him to our and the likes of Motor City Drum Ensemble, Jeremy Underground and Bicep’s attention.  Described as “carefree melancholy, soul-searching beat theory” it’s certainly a release we feel we can get behind.
