For as long as there are clubs, there will be house music, and it’s artists like Marc Vedo who keep the scene going with releases like “Ride Of Your Life,” featuring vocals from Australian singer Kylie Auldist, who you might know from her collaboration with Kungs “This Girl.” With releases out on Great Stuff Recordings, Armada Deep, and Milk & Sugar, and support from the likes of Pete Tong, Gorgon City, Mark Knight, Annie Mac and more, we’ve had a chance to catch up with the busy DJ and ask him a few questions.

How did your collaboration with Kylie Auldist come about?
I heard Kylie’s voice on the Kungs’ track “This Girl” and absolutely loved her soulful vocals so asked my management to get in touch with her so we could talk about doing a collaboration together. We sent her this idea I was working on and she loved it, so we arranged to meet up when she was in the UK on Tour last summer. We went for a coffee chatted about the ideas and hit it off! The rest is history and now here we are 9 months later with the single finally released.
What inspired the groove on “Ride Of Your Life” ?
I was listening to some classic house piano riffs and had this idea of doing something modern but with a really classic feel so came up with the music based around this idea. I wanted the drums, kick and bass to sound really crisp and clean with a big uplifting piano riff over the top. When the track was finished is was crying out for a vocal and that is when Kylie came into the picture.
What have you been listening to lately, what makes you move (dance)?
I have been listening to a wide range of music from chill out music, Asian infused beats, hip-hop, techno, house, classical, pop, you name it! Anything that has a good groove on it and makes me uncontrollably dance.
Other than “Ride Of Your Life,” what’s your go to track as a DJ?
Depends where I am playing and what time of the night I have a different go to track. At the moment I am loving Joyryde – Hot Drum on OWSLA label, its just packed full of high tempo energy. If I am doing an earlier slot I will probably be dropping Vintage Culture & Slow Motion remix of Sofi Tukker “Drinkee” on Ultra Records, brilliant track!
What’s next for Marc Vedo?
The main focus right now is getting “Ride of your Life” as much exposure as possible and seeing if we can take this to the top. It’s such a great track with a brilliant summer vibe about it, you can’t help but dance when Kylie’s vocals kick in. We have just signed a deal with FOX Sports in the US , so its going to be played across all their sports channels for the next year so I think we are getting there with this kind of support. Asides to this I am always working on new tracks so you should be hearing lots of new material coming out soon. Oh, and I will also be playing all over the world so you might catch me in a club soon somewhere in a dark corner spinning some tunes.
