MATTE brings BLACK back to NYC with Dixon, BARNT, and more

BLACK, one of the first colors known to man, the darkest color of the visible spectrum which exists from the absence or complete absorption of light. The achromatic color is the base to anything and everything. In the fall of 2015 the expression of music, art, and design presented itself in a new manner, through the prism and aesthetic of BLACK. On March 31st, MATTE brings BLACK back to NYC for its annual multidimensional pop-up experience. A unification of contemporary music, visual art and NYC’s underground culture, BLACK will transform a raw Brooklyn warehouse to take people on a journey into the recesses of New York City.

The lineup will divide between two separate rooms. The main space will feature Resident Advisor’s perennial #1 DJ and Innervisions founder Dixon, South African wunderkind Culoe de Song, Berlin’s Magazine label co-founder BARNT, and finally, LA’s Dig Deeper head honcho Masha. The chamber room ignites with a rare set by Berlin’s own DJ Hell, a live performance from London Grime native Gaika, DJ sets from polymath Veronica Vasicka and Miami’s underground queen Jubilee, and live experimental performance by Frank Ocean producer NOLIFE.

BLACK cannot be defined.

BLACK 2018 signals the disruption – its experimental art and alternative experience representing the change in us all. It is a world of imagined and unimagined forms submerged in darkness. A space where creatives and thinkers thrive in sensory exploration.
