Maceo Plex shares explicit new video to ‘Conjure Superstar’

r2014_maceoplex.jpgProlific American producer Maceo Plex has unveiled the explicit new video to his tech house roller ‘Conjure Superstar’, released last month through Kompakt. The track is part of Maceo’s ongoing ‘Conjure’ series of releases, where he comments on “contemporary club culture for its creative (and human) pitfalls”. As deep and intense as the music itself, the video portrays a journey through a night of sordid affairs, creating a creepy, drugged out perspective through the shaky camera work. “Everyone’s a Conjured up Superstar. Is it really about the music anymore?” says Maceo.

Part Basic Instinct, part ‘Smack My Bitch Up’, the clip comes with a big, fat warning sticker attached: “The video contains images that might shock or frighten and may be disturbing or incomprehensible to minors. Includes descriptive scenes depicting; the use of illegal substances, nudity, violence, portrayals of violence with some bloodletting”.This twisted social commentary is not for the faint of heart… but maybe that’s why we love it! Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
