If you ask a lot of traveling DJ’s where the most vibrant scenes are emerging from places they played a sizeable number might well tell you Montreal has a lot going on right now. Slightly more underground and niche than the North American hotspot Toronto the French speaking city certainly has a fair bit to be proud of in the electronica stakes. One of the new wave of stars emanating from the city is Jacques Greene who has been on the radar for the more discerning electronic music fan since releasing on Glasgow’s Lucky Me and London’s acclaimed Night Slugs back in 2010 when he showcased his talent for infusing a garage swing into a style firmly rooted in classic sounding Chicago house with piercing acid stabs and the occasional nod to less mainstream R&B.

A lot has happened since then, including remixing Radiohead, unveiling a new live show and a series of well received releases in addition to conducting a heavy global tour schedule for DJ sets around the world.

So with a big couple of years behind him we’re pleased to see Jacques has been back in the studio and unveiling the new video for  EP track ‘Night Tracking’.

Taken from his recent Phantom Vibrate EP on LuckyMe giving ‘Night Tracking’ the full video treatment has now been quickly followed up by the announcement of a remix edition of Phantom Vibrate which sees Fort Romeau, Yung Gud and Kit Grill rework EP cut No Excuses whilst Area Forty One re-imagines ‘Night Tracking’.

Set to arrive next week you can check out Fort Romeau’s remix of No Excuses below:

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
