Back in May, Southampton-based Junk residents, Moda Soul, offered up an exquisite blend of house and techno for our Spotlight series. Since then, the duo have headed in separate directions but both are still on the DT radar, and today we’re reaping the rewards.
Having returned his hometown of Bracknell, Jobe Elliott-King is working under the new alias, joebei. Taking influence from jazz, breakbeat and his old four-to-the-floor favourites, Jobe describes the project as “an outlet for music that is both minimal and fragrant.” To help launch his new moniker, Jobe is offering up a free download of new track ‘Whiplashed’ – a rumbling, jazzy number that really lives up to its name.
Meanwhile, Charley Tucker has set up shop in the sonic melting-pot that is Bristol. Now operating under the name Vhara, he’s launched the Faces label and afterparty alongside G. Walker and Jay Ahmed.
