Erick Morillo has died

Erick Morillo has died.

As reported by Florida’s Local10 news, Morillo was found dead on Tuesday (1st September). He was scheduled to appear in court on Friday, having been arrested and charged with sexual battery in August.  The DJ/producer had turned himself in to authorities after the results of a rape kit tested positive for his DNA.

The DJ initially denied the accusations, but on Wednesday (5th August), results of a rape kit taken at the time of the incident tested positive for Morillo’s DNA. He since handed himself in to the police with his attorney.

The circumstances of his death are currently unknown. Detectives are reportedly on the scene, commencing the preliminary stages of an investigation into the 49-year-old DJ’s death.

Updated 1:16 PM PT: Miami Beach PD tells TMZ there were no apparent signs of foul play, and Morillo’s cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner.
