Deadmau5 Previews New Material

After a very public falling out with U.S based EDM powerhouse Ultra Records Deadmau5 thanked fans for their continued support with a free download entitled ‘Suckfest9001’ and now the outspoken producer has uploaded several other new pieces of material for his fans to check out on his SoundCloud page.

The Canadian, who has been vociferous in his criticism of EDM and the marketing culture behind the genre began by uploading two new previews last night which appear to show a change in direction for the mouse head wearing DJ. The first track, ‘Coelacanth’ showcases a minimal soundscape whereas the second effort to be uploaded called ‘Fck A Coelacanth‘ presents a more classic Deadmau5 sound laced with retro chords and a thick kick drum.

Garnering over 100,000 hits in under 24 hours both tracks appear to have proved popular with his fanbase as did a third extended version of ‘Fck A Coelacanth‘ which he aired this morning under the title ‘My Pet Coelacanth‘ and if you were wondering (we were) just exactly what a coelacanth is then worry no more as we’re reliably informed it is a “A prehistoric fish once thought to be extinct found living in modern times.” Of course it is Mr. Mau5. Of course it is.

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
