Carlo Lio tees up four tracks for EI8HT

Toronto native Carlo Lio tees up an industrious release for Eats Everything & Andres Campo’s EI8HT label, unleashing a quadruplet of tasty techno cuts on the ‘Back To Front’ EP.

Alongside his trusted studio partner, Nathan Barato, Lio runs and curates the dynamite Rawthentic Music label, and has also fired out classy releases for Dubfire’s SCI+TEC label, elrow Music and more.

A hypnotising tone is set with the rolling toms, booming kicks and repetitious vocal stabs on title track ‘Back To Front’, as a hardworking groove is diligently carved out, whilst ‘Blind Sided’ slides in one of the Jeff Mills-esque orchestral stab riffs, albeit at a slower tempo, for a serious Detroit inspired cut.

The panning vocals of ‘Last Man On Mars’ provide a dissonant edge, as a bass bin shaking drum rhythm powers on through, and EP finale, ‘Trippy Bizz’, saves the meatiest of kicks until last, as an infernal mood is set with the addition of a twisted synth lead and discordant vocals.
