Since the release of 2010’s More! Album we had been left wanting exactly that, with the German duo sporadically releasing EP’s whilst fans of the pairing waited anxiously wondering when a new full length effort was going to land. Thus when the Blackout: Whitenoise EP was released for this years record store day and a 5th studio album announced to follow everyone was excited to find out exactly what Booka Shade’s ‘Eve’ was going to sound like  before it garnered widespread acclaim upon its release.

Billed as being a soundtrack to their story over the last few years, a tumultuous period in the pairings artistic relationship in which they almost split up during the first half of the production. In order to create something exciting they needed to be somewhere exciting and in search of inspiration headed to one of the UK’s hotbeds of electronic music, Manchester, to record at the acclaimed Eve studios, a residential vintage recording studio.

This is where they found themselves together again, where the music came to life and thus is why the album is named after the studio as the pairing explain “We recorded an electronic album in a traditional way and it made us feel like a band again, it was like going back to the beginning. ” Now with after the albums release, the pairing have shared a new making of documentary with us chronicling the trials and tribulations that went into the making of the album.

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
