Bingo Players’ Paul Bäumer Sadly Passes Away

In incredibly sad news Bingo Players’ Maarten Hoogstraten has announced on the group’s Facebook page that his DJ partner, Paul Bäumer, lost his battle with cancer on December 17th. A message from the group’s Maarten Hoogstraten thanks fans for their support and confirms the understandable cancellation of gigs and events through the end of 2013.

The tragic news comes after a breakout year for Bingo Players with the duo playing Ultra Music Festival and Coachella, in addition to securing a high profile residency at Las Vegas superclub Hakkasan.  After revealing his diagnosis in July in response to questions his absence from live appearances but Paul understandably didn’t wish to go into depth about his illness.

Despite his illness the pairing launched a large-scale headlining tour this Autumn, complete with an elaborate set designed by the acclaimed Vita Motus Design Studio  and whilst Bäumer was unable to make it onto the tour, reports suggest he was busy as the studio as recently as September with suggestions that he would be ready to return to live performances soon.

Tragically these plans will never come to pass but for us Bingo Players will always be plural and we will all miss Paul. Gone but not forgotten.
