Here at Data Transmission we realise that there’s more to life than money [Ed. I wouldn’t mind the chance to prove that money can’t make me happy] and have always been firm believers in the old adage that generosity is its own reward. That’s why we were delighted to see a host of electronic music’s most respected names get behind Craigie Knowes, a new Glaswegian label that’s kicking things off with a nine-track compilation, the proceeds of which will go to helping charity War Child continue to protect children living in the world’s most dangerous war zones.
Featuring tracks from the likes of Move D, Lord Of The Isles, Neville Watson and Bicep ‘The First Annual Fundraiser’ compilation will be available to buy October 15th and can be pre-ordered here. Until then we’ll just have to make do with streaming Bicep’s freshly unveiled slice of tropical techno – yes that is a thing – ‘Malima’. Made from a combination of hardware we wished we owned – a Korg POLY 800, MPC 2000XL, TR606 and “some pan drums” ‘Malima’ has got us dancing around the office like its the Friday afternoon before a bank holiday weekend. Check it out below.
