Sharpson ‘Abnormality’ [Numen]

Sharpson returns to supply us with another hard-hitting Acid Techno EP; Ideology. The EP is courtesy of Numen Records, the label of Ukrainian Techno hard hitter Xenia. Sharpson’s influences from 90’s rave music and 00’s electro house shine through in this compilation of tracks with its Acid sounds, distorted basslines, glitchy vocals and heavy booming drums.

The title track ‘Ideology’ holds no punches. Its intensity is created through the use of an ever-building rolling 303 basslines, constantly rising and dropping in pitch. The breakdown consists of a haunting vocal chorus, with a simple message: Be Free Of Your Ideology. 

Next on the tracklist is ‘Cujo’, a track that has already seen some support from the likes of Rebūke, Deborah De Luca and more. This subtle track slowly builds until a powerful climax on the second drop. Any Acid fan is going to go nuts for the squeaky 303 explosions combined with terrifying vocals that aggressively pan around your ears. Definitely a track to listen to on headphones.

And the final track is ‘Abnormality’. Its main melody consists of a rave stab repeating the same note excessively. After a long intro, the melody finally ascends and descends before the drop, or, in other words, creates an ‘abnormality’. Sharpson has once again created a relationship between sound and thematic ideas with this final track.
