Mix of the Day : LOR

motd-lor

If you’re an up-and-coming producer whose debut release is commanding the attention of Roman Flügel, Mano Le Tough and Bicep, it’s safe to say you’re doing something right. Hailing from Belfast, LOR is doing just that; his focus on hypnotic melodies and subtle experimentation gaining support from big names across the world of techno and underground electronica.

LOR’s aforementioned debut release was a 3-track set of remixes, on which the Irishman put his spin on tracks from three very different musical heavyweights: Derrick Carter, Arthur Russell and Kraftwerk – the latter of which particularly piqued our interest here at DT.  Since we picked him in our ‘Ones to Watch for 2016’, his first original EP was snapped up by one of the leading Berlin techno labels (we’re not allowed to give the details until their promo kicks in later this year) and a second EP of unreleased material was immediately signed to Fort Romeau’s new label, Cin Cin, for a release this summer.

He joins our Mix of the Day Series today and we are very happy to have him, if you like this mix and want to see him out then you can catch LOR DJ’ing at the AVA Festival in Belfast, and Celtronic Festival in Derry.

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
