How to get 10k Fans on your DJ Facebook Page
The music industry has turned rapidly
Promoters & label owners want sales – it’s the music business after all!
Have those numbers is called social proof, consider this, which are you most likely to ‘Like’. A page that has 10 followers or a page with 10,000 followers? The same is true for individual posts, we’re far more likely to engage with a post that has hundreds of likes and comments
In this article, I give you some tips on how to build a global fanbase for your music on facebook using facebook ad manager.
We’re not talking about buying fake likes from fake profiles or bots.
Firstly, you will need a Facebook Ads account and you will need some money to spend on these Ads (nothing is free).
Facebook advertising is built around a bidding system. The more competition for your audience, the more you’ll have to pay. In the UK, United States, every promoter are running adverts targeting people who are interested in ‘Tech House’. So find other countries where people aren’t bidding.
Let’s start! Log into Ads manager and create a new campaign
Select ‘Engagement’ as your marketing campaign objective
Then you will see three options, select ‘page likes’
Name your campaign something like ‘Global likes’
Name your ad set and chose the page you’re going to use to run the ads (your DJ page)
Now edit the location to include ‘worldwide’ and exclude ‘Europe, United States, Canada & Australia’
Age range: 18 – 40 (your choice here, who’s gonna buy your tracks)
Add your detailed targeting to your music genre (Techno, Deep House, House music, Tech House etc)
Connections tab: Exclude people who like your page
Budget & Schedule: Lifetime budget £100 & set the date for 7 days
The hard part of running any adverts on facebook/Instagram is getting the creative right, you need to chose what is going to draw people in. I’d recommend using a video of someone BIG playing your music/you playing your own music in a club.
If you don’t produce maybe a video of you playing somewhere with it going off. The video needs to grab attention in the first 3 seconds, so crowd videos, fireworks, festival shots etc all work well
Now for the ad text: This is my brand new track / my track being played by ________ / if you like ‘tech house’ here I am playing at ________
Once your video is uploaded, then edit the thumbnail to the most eye-catching screenshot of your video. This is really important to get people to click
Now publish your video and monitor your ad stats for the next 24 hours
There’s a column to monitor the price per like you’re paying, it should be £0.01 or less
I hope this helps demystifies how DJs get big global fanbases so quickly, how some DJs have massive fanbases in certain countries. What this does to is gives you a bigger social proof followers, it doesn’t give you fans – you will have to work on converting these and adding to these with actual fans.
Actual fans will buy everything you put out, travel miles to see you and these you build slowly and organically with amazing music, great content and great performances.
