Ibiza clubs will NOT open in 2020, but Ibiza is Open

Ibiza clubs will not open in 2020.

Diario de Ibiza reports that clubs could remain shut well into 2021 or until a coronavirus vaccine is found. Ushuaïa and Hï Ibiza are the first major clubs to announce that they will not be opening in 2020.

Venues and nightclub associations had been lobbying to get clubs open toward the end of the 2020 season with social distancing and increased hygiene measures in place but the Balearic government has ruled out any club activity this year.

Tourists will be able to visit Ibiza this summer.  I’m sure there will be other opportunities outside the big venues to dance in Ibiza this summer, you might have to look a bit harder.

Other stuff open this summer in Ibiza.

1.The beaches and water are more amazing than they have ever been
2. Beach restaurants are open
3. Pikes hotel opens 1st July and will be just as special a place as it always is probably more so with reduced capacity, great food, music and fun with friends
4. Ibiza Rocks and O Beach will be opening if that’s your thang
5. Health retreats are opening from July for yoga, healing and much more
6. Formentera is now open and is sublimely beautiful and just 30 mins away
6. Promoters are in talks to open outdoor spaces for music events
7. An events calendar is being put in place to extend the season till end of November. (November was gorgeous last year the whole month)
8.You probably don’t need me to tell you how magic Ibiza is and still is and always will be with or without the big clubs

If you’re sole intention is to be in one of the big clubs every night then yes, it’s not going to work for you this Summer even though a few of them are still in talks with government about possible events later in Summer (regardless of what that article says )
The UK and Spanish government still need to clarify the quarantine situation but expect that to come by next week
I also get that some people won’t want to travel at all and that’s understandable, let’s not berate people that do want to

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
