Fresh: Sam Laurence – Different Kingdoms

Share

Hard kicks and heartstrings. Sam Laurence entwines hard minimalistic techno amongst an expansive soundscape of raw emotion. The ‘Different Kingdoms’ EP; on his Unitas Records imprint; encapsulates a vision of hard hitting and emotionally driven electronic music that will transport you to another place.

Four cuts of driven melodic techno, driving crowds to the higher levels. Be it title track ‘Different Kingdoms’, with it’s straight up 4/4 pounding grooves, set aside ominous textures and a dark overall production, or the truly standout track ‘The Atom Star’, with addictive and infectious builds ups, propped up by synth-filled breakdowns and flush, earth shattering beats.

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
