Every year we run the DJ competition with Nozstock Festival to uncover the freshest new musical talent and this year has been no different, with almost all of the mixes having us skanking round the kitchen and pulling the bass face as we eat our breakfast.

After some deliberation we crowned DJ Dr Gre, now re christened as DJ GAW, as our winner and awarded him with a coveted set in the fields at this year’s festival. What marked DJ GAW’s entry apart from the others was his no holds barred selection of jump up and techy DnB blended to perfection with some of the darkest rollers and dirtiest basslines we’ve heard in a long time.

DJ GAW – real name George Whettleton – has only been Dj’ing for two years but has already performed at events in London and Bristol and with this set at Noz he’s now got his sights on more appearances over the coming year.

He says “I also have much more to come, including another festival as well as several club bookings nearer the end of this year and the start of next. The artists I’d say who heavily influenced me to start DJing and dabble in producing are the likes of Pendulum, Chase and Status, Andy C, Turno, Upgrade, High Contrast and Adam F to name a few”

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
