Shindig Festival to host Ghetto Funk’s 10th Birthday

Share

Shindig Festival will be hosting the 10th birthday celebrations of the multi-award winning record label Ghetto Funk. This year’s festival takes place between 21st – 24th May 2020 at their new home of Dillington Estate, Somerset. The big funky family function will be held at the record label’s nightclub venue at Shindig. Nearly all the artists on the glittering, ghetto line up have released music on the label or have a connection to it.

Artists to perform include: Chali 2NA and Krafty Kuts, Stanton Warriors and Dread MC, A Skillz, Stickybuds, Ed Solo and JFB and many more.

Shindiggers can expect the trademark whomping basslines with a bit of wobble and some boombap thrown in for good measure. It will be a true celebration of the coming of age of a sound and scene that’s going from strength to strength.

“We are digging deep into our back catalogue and I know a lot of the artists have started to remix some of their anthems just for Shindig. We haven’t ever seen a Ghetto Funk line up this big and not sure we’ll ever get all of these people together at the same time again. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to dance the weekend away with pioneers who took our sound to the world!” – Will Lardner, label co owner and Shindig Festival co Founder

Ghetto Funk started out life as a UK-based online blog and record label in 2010. Will Lardner approached Simon Clarke of Goodgroove Records with an idea to create a blog for other like-minded DJs – ie those with an appreciation for ‘party breaks’. They wanted to create something for the burgeoning scene, so that people had a place to find the latest music and artists contributing to this new and exciting sound. The Ghetto Funk blog and label played an important role in the establishment of ‘Ghetto Funk’ as a genre.

From there, they began touring their own Ghetto Funk Nightclub venue across the UK festival circuit, including Glastonbury and Shambala. They felt the next logical step was to set something up independently and, in 2014, they decided to run their own event, which is what is now known as Shindig Festival.

The full Shindig Festival lineup will be released soon, so be sure to check it out and get those tickets booked!!
