My Musical Influences by Borussia

Share

Borussia, also known as Agent Bl’AgentBoruru or Roro, lives in Paris where the Ed Banger Records HQ is located.

The only thing he uses for making music is Ableton Live and a few billion samples! Last year, he made a software-based synthesizer from only DJ Q-Bert scratch vinyl: he called it the Q synth and now uses it in most of his tracks, now he’s planning to build the same software with Teddy Riley vinyl.

He’s not really interested in anything that’s hardware. Although he’s very happy when a synthesizer is put into his hands or he’s sampling vinyl. He might get a drum machine or a vocoder sometime soon, but that will probably be about it.

He likes digging for club music, playing it, and producing it, but he doesn’t really listen to that much on a daily basis.

Here he tells us about the music that has influenced his career so far…

Daft Punk – Da Funk

My first important encounter with club music: “But daaaad, why aren’t there any lyriiiiics ?!”

Jean-Michel Jarre – Zoolook

My last important encounter with club music: “But daaaad, why didn’t you tell me about Jean-Micheeeel ?!”

Sébastien Tellier – Kilometer (Arpanet Remix)

Do I really have to explain why this remix is genius ? Anyway I just wanted to remind you guys of Arpanet

Final Fantasy VII – Complete Soundtrack

My favourite soundtrack, the album I’d keep on my night stand if I had one. A wonderful lesson of pop music

Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark – Souvenir

And talking about wonderful pop music, here is a lovely song that’ll make you want to cry, dance, and open a bank account at the very same time

New Order – Singularity (Erol Alkan’s Extended Rework)

Man, Erol is the best, so simple, so pure, so rich, so…phisticated

Crackboy – Apes

Krikor Kouchian is the most underrated French producer, with me of course

Andreas Dorau – Girls In Love

And talking about underrated people, this guy wrote the awesomest melodies

Vivien Vee – Destiny (12″ Extended STEREO)

Aaaah Vivien, my favourite Italo artist. Did you know Claudio Simonetti from Goblin produced some of her songs?

Thiéfaine – Stalag-tilt

I know if it’s not from me, You’ll probably never hear of Hubert-Félix, and it would be a shame. He wrote dope songs about weed and premature ejaculation…
