Sónar week in Barcelona is probably the busiest week in electronic music all over the world. We have picked up the best 10 Off Sonar parties so you can get lost in the city without missing any show.
This 2018, Sónar Festival will be held between June 11th and 17th, hosting more than 120 events within the Off Sonar programming. The musical variety and club’s on offer are enormous, so to make things easier for you, we wanted to offer you a small selection of the best events from Thursday 14th to Sunday 17th. From Drum & Bass to Baile Funk, going through the whole spectrum of Techno, House and Dance music, our selection aims to cover all the musical tastes of the almost half a million people that come to the city during those dates.
Data Transmission presents Trust Nobody x GO DEEVA Records – Hotel Barcelona – Sunday 17th
On Sunday 17th June the Hotel Barcelona opens up its rooftop to see Piems newly formed TRUSTNOBODY project team up with Simon Vitullo’s Go Deeva Records for an OFF WEEK Sonar special, presented by Data Transmission to celebrate their 10th Birthday. The 2 labels combine for 10hrs of pure underground House & Techno music.

Cotch International BCN– LAUT – Thursday 14th
London’s label Cotch International teams up again with local cultural platform ‘LowKeyMoves’ bringing the best party for urban and bass music lovers at LAUT Club. Both platforms have been working to make things different and consolidate a powerful relation between Barcelona and UK artists and collectives. Cotch being a reference in London’s bass music scene and LowKeyMoves being one of the musical platforms with more future in Barcelona’s electronic music scene. Together, alongside with local label ‘La Vendicion Records’, created by Pxxr Gvng / Los Santos, they’ll offer you the perfect way to start your Off week.

Oscillate Wildly Presents: Evian0001 Off Sonar – Port Olimpic – Thursday 14th
It is very likely that Evian Christ already has a flat on the mythical beach of Barceloneta and we still have not heard about it. In recent years, the innovative English artist has performed on numerous occasions, in different festivals like Mira Festival (2014), Sonar Festival (2014, 2015 and 2017) and Primavera Sound (2016, 2018). Creator of the Trance Parties, with which he has toured Europe and the USA, his parties are characterized by stroboscopic lights, strident sounds and frenetic rhythms, with the intention of moving the audience to a hostile and dark environment, ideal to evade reality.

Like every year, and as always without disappointing anyone, the charismatic artist Jackmaster organizes the showcase of his record label Numbers, along with several of his entourage’s artists, at the legendary Apolo Club in Barcelona. After the renovation of the room and its sound system, conditioning room 2 (Astin Club) to make more innovative and experimental events, this year’s the local promoter ‘Futura’ will join the party alongside the German ‘Odd Fantastic’ to offer a luxury line up in which you will enjoy several of the leading DJs at the moment.

трип (Trip) – El Monasterio (Poble Espanyol) – Friday 15th
Nina Kraviz brings us closer to her way of understanding club music through her label трип (Trip), with which she presents us with a pure Techno party. In these events, its dark and disturbing nature, so characteristic in its sets, pretends to be reflected in the dance floor, inviting us to a journey through Acid / Rave music and powerful breaks.

Hotflush – Nitsa / Astin – Friday 15th
Another event not to miss in Apolo Club is the showcase of Hotflush Records label. Hand in hand with the incombustible Scuba, the label has been a global reference for more than 15 years. From Mount Kimbie, Distance or Benga, Hotflush has always been known for being an avant-garde example in electronics, mixing experimental sounds with club music with great success and talent. On this occasion, we will also have a showcase from Kompakt Records label in room 2 (Astin Club).

Secretsundaze – Carpa & Picnic Poble Espanyol – Friday 15th
One of the most complete events of the week, besides having a very special outdoor location, ideal for this time of year in Barcelona. Organized by the co-creator of Rush Hour, Secretsundaze, the event promises 10 hours of House, Techno and Disco at the hands of several of the best DJs in the game and with the special collaboration of Dekmantel’s Soundsystem.

This is Hardcore – Razzmatazz – Saturday 16th
As every year during Sonar’s week, Razzmatazz Club organizes the ‘This is Hardcore’ parties, in which it combines different styles in its 4 rooms, hosting many of the best current DJs and producers. On this occasion, the meeting will be held between the labels’ Jaunt ‘, created by producers Blackhall & Bookless and Chad,’ Hypercolour ‘ owned by Cedric Maison and Pinkman Records from Marsman, in collaboration with the’ Mannequin’ label and the Spanish label and platform ‘Sweat Taste’ alongside the events local promoter ‘Trill’.

Ricardo Villalobos does Frrc – Parc del Forum – Saturday 16th
Ricardo Villalobos is another of those who do not usually miss the appointment with Off Sonar. Since its first event in the already closed ‘Up and Down’ club in 2013, the Chilean has continued to offer his eclectic sets at the Monastery of Poble Espanyol. For the first time, its Frequency Resonance Remote Control parties will be held in the Parc del Forum enclave, together with several artists from its environment.

Creme Organization Showcase – LAUT – Saturday 16th
The Dutch label ‘Creme Organization’ has prepared a very special night at LAUT, where we will have its founder DJ TLR and some of the reference artists on the label. To complete the line up, the well-known producer of German origin and based in Barcelona, Nehuen will perform.

After a few years in which the Drum & Bass scene in Barcelona seemed resigned to small clubs and rave parties, it seems that the genre relives a sweet moment thanks to the collectives that have continued to believe in the genre and betting on setting up quality events. These are Jungle Jungle Crew, Over Dub and Breakstorm Crew, that alongside with the UK promoter Together, they will offer a festival of infarction within the framework of events that can be enjoyed in the old Monumental bullring throughout the weekend.
