Alexis Knox: The Soundtrack to my Life

Share

Alexis Knox isn’t your average DJ. She’s a powerhouse of creativity – part style icon, part selector, all energy. Her journey spans fashion shoots with Miley Cyrus and Charli XCX, a stint as Creative Director of NOTION Magazine, and a steady rise through the club scene, where she’s carved out her own lane with bold, high-energy disco-house sets. From Ministry of Sound to Eden Ibiza and her long-standing residency at London’s Heaven, Alexis brings the party wherever she plays.

Her latest release ‘Eagle’, a collab with rising Maltese producer Husko, lands right in that sweet spot – classic house feel, packed with groove, soaked in feel-good energy. Out now on Perfect Havoc, it’s a full-throttle statement of intent from two artists at the top of their game. Euphoric, attitude-laden, and built for dancefloors.

But before the Ibiza bookings, the label deals and the collabs with legends like Princess Superstar, Alexis was just a kid tearing up a hotel disco to ‘Ride On Time’. Some things never change. We caught up with Alexis to explore the tracks that shaped her journey.

The Song That Got Me Into Dance Music: Black Box – Ride on Time

One of my earliest memories is being four years old at a hotel disco during a family holiday to the coast – on the dance floor were just me and two grannies cheering me on as I danced to this track!

The First Track I Ever Dropped in a Club: Mason vs Princess Superstar – Perfect (Exceeder)

I played this at DJ Jodie Harsh’s Club Night’ Circus’ in Soho in the 00s, so to then go on to work with Princess Superstar on an official release was a surreal and exciting dream come true – I love this track – it even my ring tone!

The Track I Just Have to Switch Off Whenever it Comes on: Roger Sanchez – Another Chance

This is the dreamiest ambient track – when I hear it, I can close my eyes and instantly feel transported to Café del Mar, watching the sunset over the sea without a care in the world.

The Song That Epitomises My School Years: DJ Jean – The Launch

Shout out to Lucy & Alexia – still holding it down with the dance routine I made up to this track, which we somehow got our whole school year to learn for an assembly back in the day. If you’re lucky, I might just bring it to TikTok sometime. Let’s just say… the Macarena wishes.

The Track That Reminds Me of My Childhood: Mousse T. – Horny

OK, a wild answer, I know! But this got absolutely rinsed at school, and we had no idea what we were really singing about, but I knew all the words; I die when I think about this! Now I’m old enough to know what it means, I’m obsessed with the track even more!

The First Song They Ever Bought: Baby D – Let Me Be Your Fantasy

This was on repeat nonstop; my CD player was seriously worn out, and I was obsessed. It might just be one of my all-time favourites. It captures everything I love about dance music, and even now, it still gives me that same rush every time.

The Track That Inspires Me Daily: Armand Van Helden – You Don’t Know Me (Feat. Duane Harden)

Sometimes, you just gotta spin it to remember to keep the faith – an anthem against snap judgments and a reminder to live authentically on your own terms. It hits even harder when you’ve actually felt misunderstood. I love it.

From blasting ‘Let Me Be Your Fantasy’ on repeat to dropping ‘Perfect (Exceeder)’ in Soho basements, Alexis Knox has always been driven by dance music that makes you feel something. Now she’s doing precisely that with her latest release, ‘Eagle’ – a bold, feel-good anthem built for dancefloors and sunset sessions.

Her story’s still unfolding – and the soundtrack just keeps getting better.
