Xenon drops ‘Raving In Kreuzberg’ EP

Share

The next release for Off-License Records, comes courtesy of Berlin based DJ and Producer Xenon. Having already released with us on their initial OLR001 VA, with his track ‘Toxic Desire’, they knew they had to get this unique producer back, but this time for a full EP of his own. Xenon has been perfecting his craft for a number of years now, focusing his sound around the darker side of the music spectrum. With his love for hypnotic patterns and fast grooves, it’s safe to say that this young producer is really pushing the boundaries between Drum & Bass and Techno, allowing him to explore the depths of what these two genres together can achieve. Xenon has already had some notable releases on labels such as DSCI4, Delta 9 and T3K. To be able to call him one of the labels core artists is an honour for them, and with that may they give us his ‘Raving In Kreuzberg’ EP.

To kick off the EP we have Xenon’s first track, ‘We Are The Sleepless’. Straight off the bat, this track sets the scene for the whole EP; a dark, ambiguous pit of atmospherics, lying underneath layers of harsh, metallic drums. Through the use of big reverbs and heavy reflections, Xenon manages to create a vast, industrial stage for his unique sounds, all whilst tying them together with deep, crawling basslines like the one that can be heard throughout this track.

Next up we have the title track and our premiere, ‘Raving In Kreuzberg’, with punchy drums and a powerful bassline, this one is sure to turn up any dancefloor it graces and with that signature, industrial vibe throughout. This track perfectly sums up Xenon’s style and the crossover he is forever exploring between Techno and Drum & Bass. It’s a near-perfect ravey banger!

Switching the energy up, ‘I Disobey Therefore I Am’ explores the stompy, half-time rhythms that we all know and love, whilst staying true to that Berlin sound. Featuring Xenon’s signature acidic basslines and spacey atmospherics, this track is an evolving journey from start to finish. Starting off with some subtle drums, that are accompanied by a minimal bassline, it doesn’t take long before this track quickly snowballs into an early morning warehouse banger that will get any crowd grooving in no time.

Moving into the final track of the collection, ‘This Is My Life’ is not one you want to miss out on. The track starts off with a spoken word sample which has been manipulated and twisted to really help bring home that edgy Berlin infused sound. Xenon has managed to capture the essence of a dark, techy, industrial techno stomper and turn it into an energy-filled Drum & Bass track which has already been received well by those who have heard it. Squelchy acid basslines and stabbing techno chords keep this one gripping throughout.
