Sola drop their long-awaited new EP, ‘Tell ‘Em’, on Riot Dubs, which is packed with energy, weight, and top-tier collabs. This four-tracker showcases everything that makes Sola one of the most exciting names in UK Drum & Bass right now, featuring General Levy, Skittles, Conrad Subs, Jasmine Knight and Sammie Hall.
The trio, made up of James, Robbie and Paul, have been grafting for years with releases on labels like Eatbrain, Jungle Cakes, Viper, Program and their own Grand Theft Audio. ‘Tell ‘Em’ is the result of years of work, refining and reshaping tunes until they hit just right. Across the EP, Sola stretch their sound in different directions while keeping it punchy, musical and rooted in their unmistakable style.
The title track ‘Tell ‘Em’ kicks things off with General Levy at the helm. It opens with a reggae-inspired halftime vibe before Levy jumps in with thought-provoking bars about standing tall in difficult times. It’s powerful, relevant, and an instant standout. Next up, ‘Owed An Apology’ features Skittles and brings a real Manchester flavour. This one’s minimal, industrial and raw, with Skittles riding a gritty beat full of space and tension.
Conrad Subs joins the crew on ‘Smash Up’, which follows on from their earlier collab ‘Squeeze’. Already doing serious damage in sets worldwide, it starts with a bouncy hip-hop-style intro before dropping into a heavy, syncopated workout. Big basslines, shifting rhythms and serious club energy make this one a certified crowd-pleaser.
Rounding off the EP is ‘Free’, where Sola dial things back and dive into deeper, more soulful territory. Jasmine Knight and Sammie Hall deliver stunning vocals over rich pads, rolling subs and clean percussion. It’s a slow burner that unfolds beautifully, full of space and emotion.
With this release, Sola prove once again they’re not here to follow trends. ‘Tell ‘Em’ blends firepower with feeling, giving us something that hits hard in the dance but still stands up on the headphones. This one’s going to be on repeat.
