Section drop ‘Star Shooter’ EP on Locked Up Music
Label bosses Section return to Locked Up Music with their first solo EP since 001 back in 2017. The pair have been around as a duo since early 2013 but as individual artists a lot longer. Jay B started DJing in 1997 while Solley has been making Jungle and Drum & Bass since 2006 after being inspired by early Pendulum work, Klute, John B and the Metalheadz sound.
Their new project ‘Star Shooter’ EP has been a bit of a labour of love for over a year and it demonstrates the amazing progress they have made. Section has a lot in store for 2020, spread across a wide range of Drum & Bass labels so keep your eyes and ears peeled for lots of great music from a duo who clearly love the sound and the scene and have dedicated their lives to them.
The title track ‘Star Shooter’ is sublime. It blends dark and light effortlessly to create a beautiful soundscape with enough dirt to keep the heads nodding. Next up is our premiere for today ‘Dirty Dozen’ which was written specifically for Monita’s night of the same name. The reaction was so positive Section had to release it. It is a tune of two halves that time after time gets a crowd going nuts. ‘Puzzle’ is a stripped back drum workout with low subs and splashes of interesting atmospherics. The second drop switches up the pace, in true Section style. Finishing off the EP is ‘Stepping Stone’; a minimal jungle-inspired track with thumping subs and percussion to give an authentic tribal feel, juxtaposed by majestic strings that make this track accessible by all corners of the scene.
