Savanna Kate returns to Global League with ‘Fall Prey’

Share

Savanna Kate is back in the vocal Drum & Bass scene with her latest single, ‘Fall Prey’. The song is a deep reflection on how childhood insecurities shaped her relationships, often leading to self-sabotage. Inspired by her fear of not being enough and a desire to break free from those negative patterns, she wrote this heartfelt track.

“I knew back in 2020 (when I wrote ‘Fall Prey’ mid-pandemic) that I was no stranger to putting people on pedestals, but a memory of a childhood best friend and her birthday party is actually what inspired this whole song. I realised that even at 6 or 7 years old, I’d decided that she and her other friends were ‘too cool’ for me, and I distanced myself from her—even though she still wanted to be my friend. I probably hurt her in the process, all because of my own feelings of inadequacy. This led me to analyze other relationships and everyday experiences where I’d diminished myself due to insecurity, often self-sabotaging. I wrote this song to tell the people I love that I’m scared—scared they’ll see I’m not enough, scared they’ll leave, and scared I’ll run before getting hurt. I wanted them to know I’m trying to rewire my brain. I see the negative patterns, and I don’t want to ‘Fall Prey’ anymore.” – Savanna Kate

‘Fall Prey’ was written alongside her producer Tom, who’s one half of the Australian drum & bass duo V O E. Savanna shared some insight into how the track came together: “It was actually a really seamless process. We sat on this track for four years, and honestly, when we revisited it, not much changed from the original demo. Even most of the vocals are from 2022, if not earlier. The biggest challenge was just being patient and waiting for the right moment—and the right label—to release it.”

Looking ahead, Savanna’s got three more catchy, emotional singles lined up for the coming months. She’ll also be continuing to work on new music and performing her tracks.
