Renegade Riddims: The Skeptics

Well, here we are, almost at the end of this horrific year! We have one more Renegade Rididms mix to upload before the year is out but before that, we have an incredible duo The Skeptics with their Christmas mix!

The Skeptics are a duo who are both from Birmingham and residents of Breakthru and Liquescent. They’ve recently released the second EP on Celsius Recordings and also dropped a new EP on Under Surveillance last Friday (18th December). This year has seen The Skeptics have their first full year of releasing music! Not too shabby under the circumstances!

In April they had a release on Beats In Mind: Headsbass who raise funds and awareness for mental health charities. This saw The Skeptics collaborate with Motif, Polarized and MC RVS on ‘The Finest Motion’. This one helped raise some money for the charity MIND. This was quickly followed by their first release on Under Surveillance in May with both tracks being their best sellers to date! After that, they were included on Intrigue‘s 17th anniversary album in June/July with the track ‘Simple Things’. This album included tracks from Randall, Ben Soundscape, Collette Warren and MC Fats.

Their first EP on Celsius ‘Control’ EP followed in July with a track included called ‘Existence’ with MC Bluejay which has also been very well received. Their second EP with Celsius, ‘Dream In Your Eyes’ EP has a track on it called ‘Whatever’ which featured on Noisia Radio and ‘Dream In Your Eyes’ featured on Doc Scott’s DNBvid streams.

It’s been a busy, productive and very rewarding year for The Skeptics and our hope for them is that this is the start of bigger things to come. They tell us that they have some forthcoming EP’s and releases already lined up for next year, so things are already looking good! Let’s just hope we can get back to the raves soon and see them in action once again.
