Renegade Riddims: SR
This weeks Renegade Riddims mix comes from a proper old skool head – SR
SR has been releasing music for the past decade but actually began working in music during the nineties, starting off as an engineer at Tongue & Cheek studios in Oxford whilst producing and even playing keyboards in a band!
He has played across Britain from the Blue Mountain in Bristol to Egg, Work Bar and The Castle in London. He’s become known for his heavy old skool influenced sound with plenty of chopped breakbeats and amens. He has released music on many different labels over the years, including the likes of Metalheadz, AKO, Ghetto Dub, Skeleton, 36 Hertz, Deep In The Jungle, KLP, Format Music and Locked Up Music.
His debut solo LP ‘Squat Rave’ was released on Section’s Locked Up Music on September 14th 2020 on vinyl and digital. This will be his second album after ‘Turnin’ Back’ on 36 Hertz which he produced with Digbee in 2015.
He also has forthcoming releases on Metalheadz and AKOism. He has worked with many other artists over the years like Jem One, Vinyl Junkie, Ragga Twins, Zen Lewis and has had music remixed by Randall, Callide and DJ Vapour.
We recently premiered ‘LSD User’ which is a track from his latest album, check it out here. The album is really ravey and takes you right back to the old skool and back to the roots of Jungle Drum & Bass. Loads of breaks and amens This new mix is very similar. He’s included a bunch of his tracks from his ‘Squat Rave’ LP along with some other absolutely banging music!
