Introducing Skellytn: a trailblazer who made history as the inaugural female artist to unleash a Drum & Bass album in North America. In 2022, her groundbreaking work titled ‘Neurocomputer,’ released under the Play Me Records label by Reid Speed marked a pivotal moment in the music industry. Notably, Skellytn also achieved the distinction of being the first female to contribute to the influential neuro-focused label, Eatbrain, further solidifying her position as a driving force in the genre.
Skellytn’s musical prowess is an intricate fusion of technical precision and complexity, an artistry that often blurs the lines between her persona and the enigmatic corporate entity she symbolically supports. Her journey through the electronic music landscape was cultivated at the renowned Icon Collective in Los Angeles. It was here that she harnessed her creative potential, drawing inspiration from the underground scene that shaped her upbringing, as well as the innovative sounds of electronic luminaries such as Skrillex and Noisia. These influences propelled her to master the craft of music production, leading to her releases on respected platforms like Space Yacht, Emengy, and Drama Club, which paved the way for her triumphant debut with ‘Neurocomputer.’
Skellytn’s influence stretches beyond the studio, as she has graced stages alongside esteemed contemporaries like Alix Perez, Shades, and Ghastly. Her commanding performances have illuminated events like Respect LA, leaving an indelible impact. It comes as no surprise that ‘Neurocomputer’ surged to the fifth position on Beatport’s D&B Top 100 chart, sparking recognition from esteemed media outlets including UKF, Your EDM, and Bassrush.
Elevating her signature cyber-bass aesthetic to phenomenal heights, Skellytn emerges as a formidable figure poised to reshape the Neurofunk landscape across the UK and Europe. A fusion of industrial-tinged tones and finely-tuned craftsmanship defines her unique sound. Her rise to prominence is characterized by an audacious blend of human ingenuity and technological prowess, a duality embodied by her very essence.
Fast forward to 2023, and Skellytn stands as a fearless commander, orchestrating the evolution of Drum & Bass within North America’s musical fabric. Fueled by an unwavering passion and an undeniable talent, she embarks on exhilarating tours alongside luminaries like Boogie T and Riot Ten. Together, they set stages ablaze with electrifying performances that enrapture audiences nationwide. From the grand stages of Forbidden Kingdom, Bass Canyon, Lost Lands, to the ethereal realm of Nocturnal Wonderland, Skellytn’s pulsating rhythms and infectious enthusiasm carve an unforgettable imprint on the hearts and minds of all who bear witness.
Her latest EP ‘Megacorporation’ sees Skellytn taking listeners on a thematic voyage that underscores the dystopian universe behind the project, which now follows the company’s ascent and dominance in the realms of warfare machinery and biotechnology. Check it out below and buy it here!
