Renegade Riddims: DE CET

Share

East London producer DE CET has been quietly doing the work. Rooted in UK soundsystem culture, pirate radio and the raw energy of 90s rave music, his sound sits at the deeper end of Jungle and Drum & Bass, and it’s been turning heads across the scene.

Since his first release in 2023, DE CET has built a steady catalogue through a run of EPs while developing his craft within the Locked Up Music camp. That dedication has earned him support from key names across the scene, with recent releases landing on DJ Trace‘s respected 117 imprint.

Now he’s ready to make a bigger statement. His debut LP ‘Breakbeats for the Streets’ drops May 25th across all streaming and download platforms, with an early release on Bandcamp from May 18th. A limited exclusive 10″ lathe cut vinyl featuring ‘Lucid’ and ‘Sky Burial’ makes this one to hunt down.

Fourteen tracks deep, ‘Breakbeats for the Streets’ is the sound of years spent immersed in underground dance music. Don’t sleep.

To coincide wth the release of his new album, not only did we premiere ‘Love Injector’ earlier this week, DE CET has recorded a brand new, exclusive mix for us. Featuring music from his album as well as tracks from Locked Up Music boss Section, DJ Trace, John Rolodex, Goldie, Rufige Kru & Submotive, Close & RMS and more!

Sum up this mix in 10 words…

Upfront, deep jungle drum & bass

What’s your personal favourite track on it?

Probably my track ‘Transient Music’ as it has that 90’s intelligent sound at the start and ends with jungle energy.

What’s the special ingredient in this mix?

Me, I guess! It’s a bit of a showcase of some of my favourite producers at the moment, plus some dubs and tracks from my latest release.

Tell us about your next release…

‘Breakbeats for the Streets’ is my new album coming out on Locked Up Music on 18th May. I made it last year, and it’s kind of a journey through my experience raving in London over the years. I started at places like Bagleys, which was always multi room warehouse where you could go discover other styles of underground music. It’s a reflection of that, so mainly jungle and drum & bass, but also features flavours of other genres.

Available on Bandcamp on 18th May with full release on all platforms on 25th May.

What have you got coming up?

We’re celebrating the new album launch at Planet Wax. I’ve got a few new projects and collabs which I can’t talk about yet, but I’m super excited about – watch this space!

When was the last time you actually raved?

I went to Metalheadz at Night Tales in Jan, HVYWGHT at Outernet in Feb, Outbreak in March and my album launch in May.

And finally, do you have a special message for our readers?

Thanks for listening to the mix. If you like it, check out Breakbeats for the Streets, out on Locked Up Music now!

Big shout out to Section, Locked Up Music family, Philth, and everyone listening to or supporting my music.
