Renegade Riddims: Arietta

Arietta, the DJ and Producer, is all about those infectious broken beat dance grooves with a feel-good vibe. But don’t be fooled – she’s not afraid to take you on a deep, emotive journey with her music. With a whopping 15 years of classical and jazz training under her belt, playing multiple instruments and composing, she crafts sets that tell a story. You can feel her deep understanding of the electronic music scene.

Her love for bass music started early. At 16, she got her hands on her first set of turntables. By the time she hit 18, she had a residency at a club back in her hometown, Phoenix, AZ. Drum & Bass quickly became her thing, making waves in the Southwest US underground scene. After a short break to focus on some artsy projects, she bounced back in 2014 with a breakbeat duo and eventually went back to her solo gig in 2016.

Sure, she loves tearing it up in nightclubs and at festivals, but her connection with music goes way beyond mixing and production. Arietta founded a national artist collective called ANIMA, showing her commitment to using music for social and political awareness. By day, you’ll find her knee-deep in the jazz scene, managing a crew of internationally acclaimed and GRAMMY Award-winning artists.

Based in Phoenix, Arietta is a globe-trotting performer. She used to host a killer radio show called BASS Movement on dnbradio.com. She’s dropped an EP, ‘Coded Dreams Vol. 1’, a bunch of singles, and even lent her remix magic to artists across genres. Not to mention, she snagged the win at the Hospital Records ‘Women in Drum and Bass’ DJ Competition in 2020 and hit the stage at the first Hospitality takeover in Margate, UK, in 2022. You can catch her in the spotlight in places like NewTimes, ThatDrop.com, BEST Drum and Bass, EDM Identity, Relentless Beats, and Life Support Machine. Right now, Arietta’s cooking up her first solo Drum & Bass album, pouring all her passion and purpose into those beats. Stay tuned!

Arietta is no stranger to us at DT, having first appeared on our International Womens Day takeover on DT Radio back in 2021, she followed that up with her first Renegade Riddims mix not too longer after that. Now, she’s back with another absolutely banging mix which will see you raising your gun fingers multiple times and want you to go out midweek raving!

Her latest mix features music from artists such as herself, Mozey, Jam Thieves, Sub Focus, Dimension, Tantrum Desire, Enta, Culture Shock, Nectax, S.P.Y, T & Sugah and loads more!

I’m so proud to share that Coded Dreams Vol. 2 is finished writing and in the mastering stage. These tracks are insanely special to me and have been a long time coming. The whole EP is based on digital connection. More soon!!!

What have you got coming up?

Opening up for Wilkinson and Grafix here in AZ next month, as well as announcing the next instalment of my BMVNT Live series soon! I took the last year off touring, so I’m looking forward to getting out to a few different cities again in 2024.
